Summer Heat

The summer heat has definitely kept us pretty much indoors lately. No rain in weeks and 100 degree temps are trying my patience this week. I am trying to keep our grass and baby trees alive by watering occasionally, but this is not easy to do when Brian is out of town all week and there are three needy people inside the house demanding my attention. Please rain soon! So here are some of my indoor observations recently.

Annelise is my little chatterbox. I don't think she stops talking unless she is sleeping. A couple of my favorite Annelise sayings this week:

Annelise: Can we buy the circle crackers?
Mommy: What are they called?
Annelise: I don't know. They're the circle crackers. Not the ones with the rectangle sides.
Mommy: Ritz?
Annelise: YES! Ritz!

Annelise is also into thinking of what she want to be when she grows up.

Annelise: When I grow up I want to be a nurse and a clown.
Mommy: OK
Annelise: But how do I do both?

I remember a few weeks after Nathan was born a friend telling me, "You will love having a boy. They just walk around with a ball in one hand and a car in the other." Well, it is true. Nothing could make Nathan happier, especially things with wheels. He spends most of his time driving cars and trucks around or pointing them out in books when we read. He won't even say the word "car", he just makes the "vroom" sound.
And Lily sleeps through almost everything around here.

Joy School Graduation

Yesterday we celebrated Annelise's graduation from her first year of preschool. The "graduation" was held at a local spray park. What could be better than graduation in your swim suit? Annelise absolutely loved preschool this year and I'm a little sad that she won't have that this summer because she loves to be busy, but she is definitely looking forward to another year of preschool in the fall.

Favorite baby pic

Lily's life is still so young that this is my favorite picture of her this weekend.

Home time

With a new baby we spend almost all of our time at home right now. So most of my pictures are of Lily. Here is Lily's first tummy time.

I had Brian take this picture on Sunday to make sure there was at least one picture of me and Lily while she was a baby where I was dressed and wasn't wearing spit up.
