SLB Easter Party

Annelise loves the childrens parties put on by Schlumberger. So today even though Brian happened to have to work(extremely unusual for a Saturday) I decided I would take Annelise and Nathan to the Easter party myself. I'm glad I did because hardly anyone was there. Last year it was really crowded and you had to wait in lines, but this year the weather was a little colder and windier and I think most people figured it was too cold here for being outside. So within about an hour and fifteen minutes we managed to do it all. Nathan even enjoyed the petting zoo and the bounce house. The first picture is pretty acurate of the petting zoo. Since we were there at the beginning of the party the animals were really hungry and not afraid to come looking for food. Nathan spent his time in there clinging to me and running for his life. Annelise loved everything and was excited to ride a pony this time since the lines were always too long in the past.

Picking Strawberries at Frobergs

On Friday morning we went to Frobergs (about 30 minutes from our house) and picked strawberries. We had a great time. Since I am not good at bending over and picking stuff up anymore, Brian and Annelise did most of the picking, Nathan did most of the eating, and I took the pictures.

At the Science Museum

Since Brian has this week off from work, we decided to go to the Science Museum yesterday. Annelise loved it and kept asking Brian what the names of all the dinosaurs were. When she first saw the dinosaurs she was disappointed that they were not real. Since the displays had dinosaurs with just bones and other fake dinosaurs with "skin" by the end of our trip Annelise said, "When dinosaurs die, some keep their skin and for some their skin falls off."
And a huge thank you to Nathan who managed to stay in the stroller the entire time without complaining or crying.

"It's A Snake!"

At least that's what Annelise told us when she found the worm at the end of the driveway while Brian was washing the cars. Once she understood that it was a worm she said, "The worm is taking a bath. I'll give him some food." She then covered the worm up with leaves and flowers.

This is so Nathan

I just can't keep this kid from climbing. His new favorite climbing spot is the window seat in our bedroom. We now lift the blinds and string the cords up high to try and keep him safe while he runs around up there.

My Day Away

Today was great! I managed to spend the day with friends at Time Out for Women. I wasn't sure if the money I spent on it would be worth it, but for just the time away from the usual and getting to talk to other women was completely worth it all by itself and the music and speakers were great as well. I especially love Brian for being so willing to watch the kids all day and being so sweet about it (no complaining). He did mention last night that watching the kids all day would be a good trade off for him going to the BYU game in Dallas next fall. Fair enough.

During Nap Time

Nathan has been on just one nap a day for a little while now, which makes nap time predictable and nice. Today after I put Nathan down, I told Annelise it was "quiet time" as usual and went to lay down myself since that is my time to rest during this pregnancy. I've started listening to my first digital library book on Brian's MP3 player, so when Annelise saw me put in the earbuds she of course wanted to know what I was doing. In an effort to not waste precious naptime, I told her if she came and laid down in bed next to me I would give her one of the earbuds to listen with. She thought that was great and fell asleep next to me with the earbud in since the book really didn't hold her attention. Still it was really cute to see her sleeping with the earbud in and I have a feeling we will be napping together for a while or at least until I get through the book.

Saturday at the park

Today we enjoyed super weather. Brian got all of our lawn care done early this morning, so we had time this Saturday to pack a picnic lunch and walk the small trail to the Brazos River in our community. We didn't see any alligators, but we still had lots of fun. Since the trail was really short we had time afterwards to play at the park nearby and eat our lunch.

One thing I love about my kids being little is all the cute and funny things they say. Brian and I decided that our lives would be really boring without them. Today's quotes:

This morning after Brian had showered and dressed Annelise came running into our bathroom. She stopped and took a deep breath. Then said, "Daddy, it smells like your cleanness."

I took the kids grocery shopping this afternoon at two stores. At our second store the first thing I put in the cart was a really big cantaloupe. Nathan smiled, pointed to it and said, "Ball!" or really "Ba!"

Then tonight while Brian was vacuuming the house with our fairly new Hoover vacuum, Annelise tells me, "Hoover is the happiest vacuum in the world." To which I reply, "Why is that?" Annelise says, "Because he can stand up." Bissell the old vacuum was thrown away after our frustration with its inability to stay upright due to a broken part.

The new toy

Last week one night we went for a walk after dinner. As we passed our next door neighbor's house our neighbor offered us her kids play kitchen for free. Brian and I weren't sure we wanted a big toy taking up space in our house, but we decided if the kids got tired of it we could always give it away. So far Annelise and Nathan love it! Here is Nathan playing with the new toy.

More Dress Up

Just another one of Annelise's many dress up poses. It's funny what can make for really great dress up accessories. Last month when I went through the house and got rid of a ton of junk, Annelise found my racquetball glasses that I used for a college class. Who knew years later they would get much more use for something completely unrelated to sports?
